If this article is to be believed, then it does indeed seem as if Barak Obama used to be a practising Muslim.

If he becomes President, then the implications of this could be immense.

A very interesting piece, written and researched by a writer who seems to have hit upon some little-known facts.

Sandie, the short answer is no. I would link to a similar article that was posted recently to Newsvine, but it was pulled due to user reports (most likely reported as "inaccurate"). Please see here.

The answer is "NO!"

seems like the more this rumor is circulated the more loudly it has to be shouted down.

Actually if you're looking for radicals, the author of that piece would probably be a good start.

Changed it, Dennis. Thank you for putting me straight. I don't like typo's, either.

Before this article is taken out of context, please let me clarify my reason for seeding it. Assuming that Barack was brought up by his family in the Muslim religion, then because he has left these beliefs and values behind by his converting to Christianity, then surely, if he does get elected as President, how will relations develop between America and the Muslim States? I don't know about you, but I would find this rather of concern, both for his personal safety and for America?

All this matters, for if Obama once was a Muslim, he is now what Islamic law calls a murtadd (apostate), an ex-Muslim converted to another religion who must be executed. Were he elected president of the United States, this status, clearly, would have large potential implications for his relationship with the Muslim world.

I think the article sums up the implications quite clearly. And no matter whether it's true or not, radical Muslims tend not to care about the truth and make up their own to suit. Therefore if they want to see Obama as murtadd, they'll see him as such.

Funny: the exact same thing can be said about the Republicans in the White House.

Who cares about his religion affiliation? As long as he is able to run the country effectively. I could care less if his favorite album was "Blackout" (Spears' version, not Red & Meth; of course if it was the former, I would just think he has poor taste). My point is that we need to recognize traits for the job he/she intends to do. Worship Satan as long as no one is hurt and citizens of this country are well cared for.
