Tim Burgess insists though CDs are dead, vinyl will never be replaced.
The Charlatans frontman - who chose to give away their latest album on free download but still released it on vinyl - confessed he loves his vinyl record collection and believes others feel the same.
Tim said: "I don't really care about CDs - I've probably got about 1,000 - but I've got about 7,000 records.
I am so pleased that I kept all my vinyl records. I never really liked C.D.'s, and always resented having to pay out good money for them.
The plastic cases split easily, and the C.D's themselves are not robust. Any fingermarks are picked up quickly by the laser beam, they stop, or jump, and were really not worth the money.
I have some Long Playing Albums that are over forty years old, and still play perfectly.
I also still own a lot of cassette tapes, and these also still play well. C.D's are basically rubbish, and were never made to last.
