New Two Hour Documentary on The Qur'an being shown on British T.V.

Is Channel Four (long noted for it's somewhat controversial programmes) trying to convert us all to Islam?

Two programmes this evening the first about the "The Seven Wonders of the Islamic World", and the second one, showing at eight p.m. is a two hour documentary about The Qur'an.

What with this, and some of our top Judges and Religious Leaders advocating that we should introduce Sharia Law into Britain, the English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish people are being undermined and made to feel extremely insecure in our own countries.

Mind you, if this docu hadn't clashed with my Soaps, I would probably have watched it. We need to be aware of how, in subtle ways, our very way of life is being undermined and threatened, on a daily basis.

When did you last see a two hour programme on "The Bible"?

I shall record these programmes though, and watch them later on.

Couple weeks ago. There's always a new hour or longer documentary or special playing about the Bible of religion in general. The same station (Channel 4) with the specials you talk about here has played more than a dozen such things on many religious topics (mostly focussed on Christianity in some way, being the biggest local population for that channel). A nice list is right on their site. And that's JUST channel 4...there are a LOT of channels that play documentaries and other specials about that sort of thing all over the world.

I haven't seen these new ones you mention yet (not in the UK, have to get them....er...other ways), but Channel 4 is usually pretty fair with these sorts of things...though of course I'll wait to see them before really commenting on them :)

Thanks, Brad. It's probably because I wouldn't have been looking for any programmes on the Bible anyway. Not being a Christian myself, it isn't relevant I suppose.

It's just that anything regarding Islam sticks out for me, and I couldn't help notice it when looking through my Programme Guide.

Sandie, what's wrong with learning about other cultures?

Dennis, there is nothing wrong with learning about other cultures or other faiths.....for those who want to.

It just seems that we are having Islam thrust into our psyche whether or not we want it.

Our kids are being made to learn about Islam. More and more of our young people who feel themselves to be alienated by their own culture, are being drawn towards Islam as an alternative lifestyle.

One where they no longer need to think for themselves.

One where they no longer need to think for themselves.

Watch it first Sandie before passing judgement. Don't miss the bit about how Sharia Law is practiced in Palestine. Keeping an open mind allows one to think for themselves.

I like to learn about other cultures. The Islamic World and the Qur'an are things we need to be well-informed on and I always welcome a little more information to add to my repertoire. I consider it to be free education to those who wish to watch, not anything being forced on me. I can choose not to watch it.

Sandie: Geez, you guys are getting off easy. Across the pond over here we get the T.V. evangelists thumping and bumping and talking about how to make money and if you pray hard enough Jesus will bless you and you will get a new car, a new house etc.

Their churches are these big giant halls that have seats instead of pews. The parishioners (audience) nod and bob with smug looks on their faces. They are convinced that God is on their side. They have always hated the Jews but now they hate the Muslims more so they are backing Isreal. Their "men of God" who do the preaching are more like used car salesmen.

Honestly, it all makes me sick. I can't stand religion- any of them.

I'll second that - I'll defend the right of anyone to believe in what they like, just don't expect me to join them. I've seen too much first hand what religions can do when taken to excess, and seen friends die trying to help.

The Channel Four Programs are a good thing, although they do get a little one sided sometimes pandering to populist opinions, but fair play, most times they are not afraid to stick their neck out.

To be honest, at the risk of getting my head taken off, I find those evangelists highly amusing and cant stop laughing when I see them in full flight. Its amazing that they get such a following as they do. But each to their own ...

They would be funny if they weren't so dangerous. They are as bad as the Muslim extremists. Neither has anything to do with God, just power!

Let me begin this conversation with the origin of religion. I'll start with the ancient Egyptians. The word PHARAOH means "House of RA, as in ToRAh, IsRAel, IRAq, IRAn, RAja, RAma; BoRA, BoRA; RA - ad infinitum (worldwide) - It was God's PROPER NAME. All other names for RA, like: God, Alla, Jehovah, Yahweh, etc., are adjectival nouns. This means that every ancient tribe, nation, group, etc., worshipped this god, the same god who was called RA. Unfortunately the entire ancient world prohibited the people to even say god's name. If His sacred name was mentioned you would be put to death. "Thou shall not use God's name in vain!", is a commandment that meant you shall not know it but, if you do, you shall not use it. But that did not prevent society from using it even if the individual can't. In the Jewish legend, Joseph's father's name was changed to Israel. Hence Israel got its name. Is-Ra-El means 'IS/Ich, I, Ish', which means 'Man' because only man can wear a beard; RA, is god's proper name; 'El' means God. God's name was 'hidden' in the title of its tribe. The biblical characters, Abram/Abraham and Sarah, both contain god's sacred name, but that is because both were not human beings and, like Moses, were fictional characters created by the authors of the Bible to make a story of and for the nation, to bind all different tribes together. 'Moses,' the biblical character, is composed of, at least, five different universal images. The Koran uses much the same story, because every tribe (on Earth) experienced the same worldwide catastrophe.
This bearded image explains why God is assumed to be a man. But, not all world's ancient tribes accepted the bearded image; instead some tribes reflected an extended tongue, the tongue and beard looked like extensions of the mouth. Both universal representations originated from the same face that the entire world saw and worshipped. His name was RA. The universal sound "RA, RAH, ARA" accompanied the image. The ancient American Indian legend stated that with a giant pole extending to the heavens to keep it from falling would yell "HooRAh. The Maori warriors of New Zealand asserted that extending their tongues out like RA did, in the heat of battle, they would be victorious. Today, men subconsciously emulate RA's beard by wearing the necktie. Universally accepted, a Tie as the beard. The word 'Abraham', like 'RAbbi' contain, not only god's proper name but the title 'Father' is attached. 'Abba' means father, and RA-Abba, becomes Rabbi (with beard). In the biblical trial of Jesus, 'Barabas', the other convicted man whose first name was Jesus, wasn't crucified on the cross and was set free because he was the son of the Jewish High Priest. His name 'Bar' means "son of"; High Priest called, Abba or 'Father.' Even Rome (Note the RA/RO) respected the High Priest.
So it is that this, my story, takes thirty five years to tell. If no one is interested or cares to hear it or read it, this will be my first and last attempt to tell you facts you have never heard, or seen. Until next time. Gordon
