Well, I was supposed to have a bone-scan on August 11th, WRONG!
Wait until you read this catalogue of errors!
Last week I arrived home to find a "Unfortunately we can't deliver" card from the Royal Mail. It stated that there was "Unpaid postage plus a One Pound handling fee to pay on the item"
I knew that it could not have been a parcel as all my parcels were bang up to date with nothing outstanding.
So I left it until I had time to log into the Post Office site and paid the outstanding fee online which I did on Sunday.
(The date of the card was the fourteenth)
Today (21st) I finally get the piece of correspondence........a letter from the hospital (remember it had NO postage on it), telling me that the actual appointment for my bone scan is this coming Friday (23rd). I cannot keep appointments on Fridays (my live radio programme), so I phoned them this morning to cancel.
They were not sure when I could have the new date, so we left it "open". I took them to task over the postage errors and explained that this is why there had been a delay in my recieving it.
Now, apparently, there is a "shortage of technetium ( the substance used in these scans) and they have no idea as to when I will get another appointment.
So, I have also phoned my Consultants office to cancel the appointment on August 11th with him, as, no doubt the only reason he wanted to see me then was to discuss the results of the bone scan.....which now doesn't look as though it's going to happen for the forseeable future anyway!
Update on the above article: New Appointment Date: 10th August, and this time I never even had to pay the postage on the letter!!
